Credit Alert Fact Sheet
What ProfitGuard does when you place a company on the Credit Alert Service

Each company placed on Credit Alert is assigned to a financial analyst who actively  monitors, evaluates, and identifies the changing credit risk of that entity, its end markets, and the segment of the industry it operates in.

The following tools and methods are used to actively manage credit risk across the PG Credit Alert Portfolio:

  • Our team of analysts holds committee reviews regularly to discuss downgrades/upgrades and review marginal accounts for near-term concerns.

  • The analyst stays on top of “macro” industry events that could affect the credit quality of industry participants as a whole.

  • On a “micro” level, the analyst evaluates the alert company’s suppliers and its end markets in an effort to uncover up or downstream risk factors that could have a negative impact on the business.

  • ProfitGuard analysts are fed local, national, and international news on each Alert company under a major subscription with LexisNexis (providing access to 5 billion searchable documents from more than 32,000 legal, news and business sources).  This information is reviewed on a daily basis for potential credit risk items.  If it directly affects the credit profile of an alert company (positively or negatively), the information is put into our Credit Alert Report that revises the company’s credit scores and indicates the reasoning for the scoring modification.  If the news doesn’t change the risk profile, the information will be directly sent to you.

  • The analyst will conduct real time review of Standard & Poor’s Summaries / Research and SEC filings (i.e. 8Ks, 10Qs, 10Ks).  This information is sliced and diced and put into ProfitGuard’s proprietary credit risk scoring model to determine if current scores remain valid.  If the scores change you will receive a Credit Alert Report detailing the reason for the change.

  • The analyst will take part in quarterly earnings conference calls to uncover key information that may not be disclosed in an SEC filing or for additional detail.

  • ProfitGuard analysts actively secure and analyze financial statements and bank references on private companies which are then scored in our proprietary model.  When new or updated information is secured you will receive a Credit Alert Report.

  • Our team is actively maintaining and developing industry relationships with management personnel and contacting them as needed for additional information or insight.

  • ProfitGuard also takes part in periodic site visits to certain debtor companies to meet with management and assess the company’s operations.

  • The analyst will monitor the monthly payment habits of your customers’ and their suppliers to identify any noticeable trends that could be a red flag to future potential financial problems.

  • Regular queries are performed to identify any possible new legal items (suits, liens, judgments, and U.C.C. Filings).

  • Ongoing review of industry trade publications helps us keep a finger on the pulse of the metals industry.
